What to Expect
The Band Together fundraiser promises an evening full of energy, talent, and opportunities to give back:
- Live Performances: Student musicians alongside their mentors showcase the transformative power of music.
- Special Guests: Witness appearances from 3x Grammy Award-winning poet J. Ivy, Grammy & Academy Award-winner Rhymefest, and MTV host and journalist Dometi Pongo.
- Silent & Live Auctions: Bid on one-of-a-kind experiences and items that directly support GOGO’s mission.
- A Chicago Dream: One of the most anticipated auction highlights is the chance to win lunch or dinner with Chicago’s own Common, an Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar-winning artist and activist who continues to inspire on and off the stage.

Since 2008, Guitars Over Guns has been using the power of music, mentorship, and the arts to open doors for young people. With chapters in Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, the organization has served more than 11,000 students, providing them with a curriculum centered on creativity, mental wellness, and guidance from dedicated mentors. Their impact has earned support from the Obama Foundation and recognition in outlets like USA Today, where GOGO Chicago’s Regional Director Add-2 described hip-hop as a tool for building confidence and shaping brighter futures.
